Ways of Working
Most people focus on the look and feel of the finished product. But there’s a lot that happens behind the scenes to make a design truly work.
For me, it all starts with identifying the right problem and iterating until the solution can’t get any better. That means lots of divergent thinking, exploring different approaches, and stripping away the unnecessary.
Solve the right problem.

Work together well.
Great products come from valuing every idea and working closely together. Openness, kindness, and true collaboration are the foundation of great teams. I keep the design process clear and inclusive, sharing work early and often so everyone can contribute and stay informed.

Working slow and fast.
Depending on the work and context, you sometimes want to move fast and sometimes need patience. I’ve developed ways of working that let me move quickly through early, ever-changing parts of the process and slow down when the work demands more care. Breadth requires speed; craft requires depth. Knowing when to switch between the two brings excitement, focus, and momentum to the work.

The right artifacts.
We have more design tools and methods of creation than ever before. Yet, tried-and-true approaches still hold their value amid this abundance of new options. Vibe coding is front and center, and teams move fast. I always strive to choose the right tool and deliver the artifact best suited to the task and context. Sometimes that’s a prototype, other times a wireframe.
