Get a Room: A room booking reservation system.

Project Description

Get a Room evolved out of a daily and basic necessity; the ability to have a more efficient and elegant way to book shared meeting space at Arc90. Before Dave Hauenstein and I designed and developed this app, our office (of about 30 people) shared a physical, reservation book...paper!! This was not ideal for a number of reasons. For example you couldn't book a room unless you were in the office, it was hard to update reservations without making the entire book a mess and and believe it or not, most people don't like leaving their desk to do this simple task! Due to these reasons, the book became unreliable and finding a meeting space when you needed one was very difficult. Since the release of Get a Room, reserving meeting space has been a breeze.

Get A Room is written in PHP using the Zend Framework. There are two components to the application: a fully RESTful API and the client, which is the app itself, written in jQuery.

Number of reservations made at Arc90 since March: 2027!

That's a total of about 5 of reservations made on a daily basis and 150 per month!
